The build quality is exceptional, with premium materials including a metal backing and reinforced frame that provides rigidity despite the thin profile. One notable design choice is that the G5 doesn't include a traditional stand - it's specifically engineered for wall mounting, though a separate stand can be purchased.

Performance-wise, the G5 sets new standards for OLED technology. The four-stack panel structure enables significantly higher brightness levels than previous generations, reaching over 2000 nits in HDR highlights while maintaining perfect black levels. Color accuracy is exceptional out of the box, and the expanded color volume provides stunning vibrancy without appearing oversaturated. Motion handling has been improved through the new Alpha 11 processor, virtually eliminating judder and blur without introducing artificial smoothing artifacts.

The user experience centers around LG's latest webOS interface, which has been streamlined but still includes some promotional content that can't be fully disabled. Navigation is generally smooth and responsive, with quick access to frequently used inputs and apps. The new AI features for picture and sound optimization work well in automatically adjusting settings based on content and room conditions, though manual calibration options remain available for enthusiasts. The updated Magic Remote maintains its intuitive pointer functionality while adding some customizable hot keys.

From a value perspective, the G5 commands a premium price as LG's flagship OLED. While less expensive OLED options exist, including LG's own C5 series, the G5's superior brightness capabilities, premium design, and cutting-edge processing help justify its higher cost. The lack of an included stand does impact the overall value proposition for those not planning to wall-mount.
